The Most Insane Netflix Animated Series Returns With New Episodes

Netflix announced Wednesday that Love, Death + Robots will return for its fourth volume on May 15, bringing another collection of boundary-pushing animated shorts to the streaming platform.

“This world, it’s a clenched, feculent sphincter. It cries out for a savior. It cries out for … me,” intones an evil-looking cat in one of the upcoming episodes, showcasing the anthology’s signature blend of dark humor and visual innovation.

The Emmy-winning series, created by Tim Miller and executive produced by David Fincher, will deliver 10 new original shorts spanning multiple animation styles and storytelling approaches.

Volume 4 features an eclectic mix of narratives including T. rex gladiator battles, sentient household appliances fighting for better working conditions, and a scheming house cat with planetary domination on its mind. Each episode maintains the series’ trademark adult-oriented content and visual experimentation.

Miller described his curatorial approach to the anthology in a promotional interview.

“One of my biggest joys in making LDR — and I think David shares this feeling — is when artists or directors make choices you would never make,” Miller said. “Their ideas, shot choices, angles, sense of timing — whatever — is something foreign to your visual language but also awesome.”

The anthology’s production model remains unchanged, with each short film created by different animation teams from around the world — ensuring visual and tonal diversity across episodes. Most entries run under 20 minutes, delivering high-concept science fiction, horror and fantasy with remarkable efficiency.

Love, Death + Robots has established itself as one of Netflix’s most visually distinctive original series since its 2019 debut. Previous volumes have featured everything from sentient yogurt to post-apocalyptic survival tales, consistently pushing the boundaries of adult animation.
