Netflix unveiled a comprehensive redesign of its TV app experience this week, marking the service’s most significant interface overhaul in years. The streaming giant revealed the new design during a media event, signaling a major refresh aimed at simplifying navigation and enhancing content discovery.
The redesigned homepage dramatically reduces on-screen clutter by displaying fewer titles simultaneously. When users hover over content tiles, they’ll expand to occupy more screen space, providing immediate access to synopses and key details.
Navigation shortcuts have been relocated from the side menu to the top of the screen. Users will find buttons for Search, Home, Movies, Shows, Games, and My Netflix prominently displayed across the upper portion of the interface.
The update also introduces more responsive real-time recommendations on the homepage, designed to better align with viewers’ current interests and viewing moods.
“What’s most exciting to me is how our new TV experience gives us the ability to evolve and innovate more easily going forward,” said Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone. “That’s how we’re going to make the Netflix people know even better. And it’s how we’ll continue to connect them with even more shows, movies and games they’ll love.”
Mobile users will see separate enhancements including AI-powered search capabilities and a new vertical feed featuring clips from popular Netflix titles — designed to entice viewers toward full-length content.
The streaming service indicated the redesigned TV experience will begin rolling out to subscribers over the coming weeks and months.
