Netflix announced Monday that Squid Game will conclude with its third season, set to premiere June 27, 2025. The streaming giant released a teaser trailer for the final chapter of its record-breaking Korean survival drama.
The announcement comes just six months after the December 2024 premiere of Season 2 — a remarkably quick turnaround compared to the three-year gap between the first and second installments.
“A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal,” reads the official synopsis for the final season. Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), also known as Player 456, will be “forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone’s resolve.”
The final season will see the return of In-ho (Lee Byung-hun) as the Front Man, who prepares to welcome a new group of VIPs. Meanwhile, his brother Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) continues his search for the island where the deadly competition takes place.
While the teaser reveals minimal plot details, it concludes with the sound of a crying baby — suggesting the stakes may be higher than ever for the final installment.
Squid Game became Netflix‘s most-watched series upon its 2021 debut, amassing over 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days. The series, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows contestants who risk their lives in deadly children’s games for the chance to win a massive cash prize.
The third and final season of Squid Game premieres globally on Netflix on June 27, 2025.
