Netflix Releases First Wednesday Season 2 Trailer

Netflix announced Thursday that Wednesday will return for its highly anticipated second season on August 6. The sophomore season of the hit series will be released in two parts, with the second installment arriving on September 3.

The streamer revealed the premiere dates alongside a teaser trailer featuring Jenna Ortega reprising her role as the macabre teenager. The announcement comes nearly two years after the series was officially renewed.

In the newly released footage, Wednesday undergoes an airport security check where she produces an impressive array of prohibited items from her jacket and backpack. Ironically, it’s Hand’s contraband sunscreen that ultimately draws the security agent’s attention.

Wednesday has established itself as one of Netflix‘s most successful original series. Through January 2023, the show accumulated more than 1.2 billion viewing hours since its November 2022 debut.

The series has transcended traditional viewership metrics to become a cultural phenomenon. Ortega’s now-iconic “Goo Goo Muck” dance sequence sparked a viral trend on TikTok, with countless users creating their own interpretations of the choreography.

Director and executive producer Tim Burton previously teased that “more misery is coming” for the second season. According to the new teaser, the upcoming episodes will reveal a long-held Addams family secret.

The show stars Ortega alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), and Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams). Additional casting details for the second season have not yet been announced.

Netflix has not revealed whether the series has been renewed beyond the upcoming second season.
