Netflix Love Death + Robots Returns: Critics Call It Perfect

Netflix released the fourth volume of Love, Death + Robots Friday, with the anthology series quickly securing a perfect 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The acclaimed animated anthology, created by Deadpool director Tim Miller and executive produced by David Fincher (Fight Club, Mindhunter), returns with 10 new standalone shorts from animation teams worldwide.

Each episode delivers a completely different experience, maintaining the series’ reputation for boundary-pushing animation and mature content.

“The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur” stands out among this season’s offerings, featuring YouTube personality MrBeast in a voice acting role as a sadistic game show host. The episode showcases genetically modified warriors battling atop dinosaurs for the entertainment of wealthy spectators in a space station orbiting Jupiter.

Miller revealed in promotional materials that casting MrBeast aligned perfectly with the character’s commanding presence as a master of spectacle.

Other episodes in the new volume explore diverse scenarios including a household appliance uprising and a power-hungry feline antagonist. The latter delivers one of the season’s most memorable lines: “This world, it’s a clenched, feculent sphincter. It cries out for a savior. It cries out for… me.”

The anthology continues to distinguish itself through visual diversity and tonal range — shifting from hyper-stylized action sequences to emotionally resonant narratives.

“One of my biggest joys in making LDR — and I think David [Fincher] shares this feeling — is when artists or directors make choices you would never make,” Miller explained in a Netflix promotional interview. “Their ideas, shot choices, timing — it’s something foreign to your visual language but also awesome.”

The fourth volume maintains the series’ commitment to genre experimentation while pushing the boundaries of animation techniques and storytelling approaches.
