Netflix announced production updates for two of its flagship series, with The Lincoln Lawyer completing filming on its fourth season while Black Doves faces a unexpected production delay.
The Lincoln Lawyer wrapped production in Los Angeles this month. Cast member Constance Zimmer (Grey’s Anatomy) confirmed the news on Instagram, marking completion of the series’ fourth season.
The upcoming season adapts Michael Connelly’s novel The Law of Innocence. The storyline centers on Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Narcos: Mexico) defending himself after being framed for murder.
“The biggest cliff-hanger of all is ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ and that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial,” co-executive producer Ted Humphrey told Netflix’s Tudum.
Humphrey added that the first episode will reveal “the broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing.”
The season promises to challenge the defense attorney in new ways. Humphrey described it as “the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on.”
Netflix has not announced a premiere date for the fourth season.
Black Doves Production Delayed
The Keira Knightley spy thriller faces setbacks ahead of its second season. Production was originally scheduled to begin in July but has been pushed to September, according to What’s on Netflix.
The delay could push the series’ return into 2027. Creator Joe Barton’s espionage drama stars Knightley as Helen Webb, a mother living a double life as an informant, alongside Ben Whishaw (Paddington) as her former associate Sam.
Black Doves earned critical acclaim for its London-set premise involving secrets sold to the highest bidder. The series explores conspiracies spanning from London’s underground to political power centers.
Netflix renewed the series following strong viewership for its debut season. The platform has not provided an updated timeline for the second season’s premiere following the production delay.
Both series represent key programming for Netflix’s ongoing expansion of original drama content across multiple genres.
