CW Romantic Drama Takes Over Netflix

Netflix added Sullivan’s Crossing to its library this week, sending the Canadian romantic drama surging up the platform’s viewing charts.

The series, based on novels by Robyn Carr, originally premiered on Canada’s CTV in 2023. The CW also airs the show in the United States. Carr previously wrote the books that inspired Netflix’s Virgin River, which was recently renewed for an eighth season.

Sullivan’s Crossing follows neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) as she returns to her hometown of Timberlake, Nova Scotia after becoming embroiled in legal troubles at work. Her boss faces indictment for billing fraud while she’s dealing with a negligence lawsuit.

The homecoming forces Maggie to reconnect with her estranged father while establishing a new social life. She’s also left her boyfriend Andrew (Allan Hawco) back in Boston under strained circumstances.

Andrew eventually follows Maggie to Nova Scotia, attempting to reconcile and persuade her to return to Boston. His arrival creates additional tension as Maggie isn’t ready to leave.

The situation becomes more complicated with the introduction of California “Cal” Jones (Chad Michael Murray), a local resident who walks Maggie home after she drinks too much one evening. A romantic rivalry develops between Cal and Andrew.

The series features Scott Patterson as Maggie’s father Harry Sullivan, Tom Jackson as Harry’s best friend Frank Cranebear, and Andrea Menard as Frank’s wife Edna in recurring roles.

Additional cast members throughout the show’s first three seasons include:

  • Lynda Boyd as Phoebe Lancaster
  • Allan Hawco as Andrew Mathews
  • Dakota Taylor as Rafe Vadas
  • Amalia Williamson as Lola Gunderson
  • Peter Outerbridge as Walter Lancaster
  • Lauren Hammersley as Connie Boyle
  • Reid Price as Rob Shandon
  • Lindura as Sydney Shandon
  • Zayn Maloney as Finn Shandon
  • Richard Donat as Roy Gunderson
  • Calem MacDonald as Kaleb Meyer
  • T. Thomason as Jackson Canaday
  • Hugh Thompson as Tom Canaday
  • Kate Vernon as Helen Culver
  • Steve Lund as Cooper

CTV wrapped the third season in June, while The CW will air its season finale next week. CTV confirmed the series has been renewed for a fourth season, expected to premiere in 2026.

Netflix currently streams the first two seasons of Sullivan’s Crossing. The platform announced that season three will join its library in August.
