Netflix announced several notable titles will be leaving the platform in May 2024, including critically acclaimed films from both major studios and independent productions.
The exodus begins May 1 with Richard Curtis’s time-travel romance About Time, starring Domhnall Gleeson as Tim, a young man who discovers he can travel through time, and Rachel McAdams as Mary, the woman he pursues with his unusual ability.
Also departing on May 1 is Sony’s animated blockbuster Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The sequel picks up one year after the events of the first film, following Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he struggles to balance his superhero responsibilities with his education and social life.
When Miles reconnects with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), he finds himself at odds with a collective of Spider-People who view him as a threat to the multiverse.
Paramount‘s action-comedy The Lost City exits the platform on May 9. The film features Sandra Bullock as romance novelist Loretta Sage alongside Channing Tatum as Alan Caprison, her book cover model.
The pair find themselves on the run from eccentric billionaire Abigail Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe), who believes Sage can lead him to an ancient burial chamber described in one of her novels.
Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody’s third collaboration, Tully, leaves on May 16. The comedy-drama stars Charlize Theron as overwhelmed mother-of-three Marlo Moreau, who forms an unexpected bond with her night nanny Tully (Mackenzie Davis).
Paul Feig’s mystery thriller A Simple Favor departs on May 19 — timely considering its sequel premieres on Prime Video on May 1. Based on Darcey Bell’s 2017 novel, the film stars Anna Kendrick as vlogger Stephanie Smothers investigating the disappearance of her enigmatic friend Emily Nelson (Blake Lively).
The departures continue a recent trend of high-profile titles leaving the streaming service, following several months of significant catalog changes.
