Netflix announced that FUBAR returns for its second season Thursday, with creator Nick Santora describing the new episodes as "completely bananas" in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.
The action series stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as CIA operative Luke Brunner, who continues navigating family dysfunction while managing international espionage. Season two introduces Carrie-Anne Moss as an East German spy with connections to Brunner’s past.
Moss joins the returning cast that includes Monica Barbaro as Emma, Brunner’s daughter, alongside Travis Van Winkle, Fortune Feimster, Milan Carter, and Jay Baruchel.
Tom Arnold also returns for the new season.
The series secured renewal after becoming a Top 10 title in 90 countries during its May 2023 debut week. Netflix reported the first season accumulated nearly 90 million viewing hours despite receiving a 50% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
FUBAR positions itself as an unserious spy drama focusing on explosive action sequences and family dynamics. The show’s creators have designed storylines around Schwarzenegger’s distinctive delivery style, continuing a tradition that dates back to his film career in titles like Kindergarten Cop.
Santora serves as creator and executive producer on the series, which blends international crisis scenarios with dysfunctional family therapy sessions.
The second season promises to expand the show’s chaotic relationship dynamics while maintaining its over-the-top approach to the spy genre.
