7 New and Returning Netflix Shows to Watch This Week May 18-24

Netflix unveiled a more modest slate of releases this week following last week’s content avalanche, headlined by the dark comedy Sirens and the final season of Big Mouth.

The streaming giant’s lineup features a mix of foreign-language originals and another addition to its growing reality dating show catalog.

Netflix will premiere the Colombian telenovela Newly Rich, Newly Poor on May 21. Based on the 2007 series of the same name, the show follows two families who accidentally switched their children at birth. Years later, they discover the mistake, forcing two men to trade lives.

The original 2007 series is also available on the platform.

Italian comedy Real Men debuts May 21, following four longtime friends — Massimo, Mattia, Luigi and Riccardo — as they navigate relationships, careers and dating in a world “set on giving masculinity a hard time.”

Reality dating show Sneaky Links: Dating After Dark arrives May 21. The premise: six singles check into a hotel looking for new connections, only to discover their longtime casual partners are also there.

Dark comedy series Sirens premieres May 22. Based on the 2011 play “Elemeno Pea,” the show stars Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) as Devon DeWitt and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as her younger sister Simone. Devon grows concerned about Simone’s relationship with billionaire boss Michaela Kell, played by Julianne Moore (Still Alice).

The eighth and final season of Big Mouth arrives May 23, concluding one of Netflix’s longest-running original series. The farewell season tackles teenage challenges including “driving, drugs, sexual inexperience, enthusiastic consent, porn and the teenage mind, cancel culture, their changing bodies, and fear of the looming future.”

Chinese-language series Forget You Not debuts May 23, following married woman Cheng Le-le (Hsieh Ying-xuan) as she balances her dual careers as a stand-up comedian and part-time convenience store employee.

Romantic coming-of-age South Korean series Our Unwritten Seoul rounds out the week on May 24. The show features Park Bo-young in the dual role of twin sisters Yoo Mi-ji and Yoo Mi-rae — opposites who swap lives before “embarking on a journey to rediscover love and life.”
