Netflix announced a slate of returning series this week, with three established shows set to premiere between April 28 and May 3. The streaming giant continues its industry-leading pace of original content releases.
Documentary fans have reason to celebrate as two acclaimed non-fiction series return alongside a sophomore season of South African crime drama.
Chef’s Table: Legends debuts April 28 on Netflix, marking the 10-year anniversary of the acclaimed culinary documentary series.
This special season focuses exclusively on four culinary icons: Jamie Oliver, José Andrés, Thomas Keller, and Alice Waters — each profiled in dedicated episodes that explore their significant contributions to global cuisine.
“They are icons that should need no introduction,” the Chef’s Table production team told Tudum. “And yet, we found ourselves alternately surprised and enthralled by the vulnerability, the intimacy, and the previously untold stories that they shared with us.”
Director Brian Knappenberger returns with Turning Point: The Vietnam War on April 30, expanding his documentary franchise with a comprehensive examination of the conflict.
The series “examines the harrowing consequences of the Vietnam War, from the Gulf of Tonkin incident to the fall of Saigon,” according to official materials. This follows Knappenberger’s previous installment that focused on 9/11 and its aftermath.
South African crime drama Unseen returns for its second season on May 2. The series continues the story of Zenzi, a house cleaner who turned to violence after her husband’s disappearance in season one.
[Spoiler Alert] Season two finds Zenzi in a precarious position, forced to trust the very people responsible for her incarceration as she navigates deeper into the criminal underworld.
The three returning series represent just a portion of Netflix’s extensive weekly content schedule, which regularly includes multiple original premieres across various genres and international markets.
