2025 Best Buddy Comedy Hits Netflix

Netflix has secured another hit as the buddy comedy One of Them Days claims the top spot on the streaming platform’s movie charts. The 2025 comedy has quickly risen to #1 on the Top 10 Movies list, bringing a critically acclaimed mid-budget comedy to viewers amid a landscape where such productions have become increasingly rare.

The film stars Keke Palmer and SZA as two friends desperately racing against time to secure $1,500 in rent money before facing eviction at 6 p.m. What begins as a straightforward premise evolves into a chaotic day as their increasingly desperate attempts to gather funds nearly upend their lives completely.

Written by Syreeta Singleton and directed by Lawrence Lamont — both previously known for their work on HBO‘s Rap Sh!t — the comedy features a talented ensemble cast. Alongside Palmer and SZA, the film showcases performances from Vanessa Bell Calloway, Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams, Maude Apatow, and Gabrielle Dennis.

One of Them Days has emerged as one of the highest-rated films of the year, boasting a 94% critic score and 90% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of April.

Time praised the lead performances, noting, “With their flirty, wisecracking charm, these two performers go a long way in setting the movie’s tone, particularly its generosity of spirit.”

Slant Magazine highlighted the film’s nostalgic yet fresh approach, stating that it “revives Friday’s spirit while bringing its own flavor, and taking the current state of the world into full account.”

The critical and audience reception could potentially signal a revival of interest in mid-budget comedies, a genre that has seen declining theatrical releases in recent years.

One of Them Days is currently streaming on Netflix.
